My indie quibble with a lot of writer-bloggers is that they don't put their money where their keystrokes are. Blogging is fine, but they're after conventional publishing contracts for their 'real work' - their novels, for example.
I have published four novels and two academic books; forthcoming in 2014 is "Reading Style: A Life in Sentences." I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
